“Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.” –Rumi
Hello family, friends, & folks!
This is a blog meant to follow my adventures as I prepare to move abroad with my partner. I will write about everything from global citizenship & intersectional social justice to my little daily inspirations & challenges. Anything on my mind may appear here—however silly or serious, however confident or hesitant, however sweet or cynical.
In January, I am moving to Morocco with my husband Robert, where we will work as youth asset builders at a dar chebab (“House of Youth” in Darija). We both have experience with youth development programs and international work. Robert’s focus is in STEM, and mine is in humanities and English as a Foreign Language. This is another exciting step in our respective careers.
I believe that teaching is my life’s work. As passionate as I am about writing and poetry, there is nothing more incredible than building a relationship with a student, inspiring them and being inspired by them. Education and youth work are backbreaking, tiresome endeavors—but the successes are more stunning than anything in the world. After all, I am uplifting the voices of our future leaders, thinkers, artists, and revolutionaries.
I am excited—and a bit terrified—to see what the future brings, to see how my story unfolds. I hope you will read and reply because I would love to hear from you!
